SE REFRESHER WORKSHOP SCHEDULE FOR 2017

Three different kinds of workshops are being offered for Spring 2017

  1. Lecture Only -- Review/Update Soil Science and Geology for Soil Evaluators (T514-0002): This is a 4 hour lecture designed for professionals who are seasoned Soil Evaluators with field experience and includes hands-on exercises. It is being presented in different regions throughout Massachusetts. Participants completing this workshop will receive 4 Soil Evaluator Training Credit Hours and 2 Title 5 System Inspector Training Credit Hours.

  2. Field Only--Reading Different New England Landscapes (T514-0003):
    This is a 6 hour field workshop designed for professionals who are seasoned Soil Evaluators with field experience.  It is being presented in different regions of the State.  Each workshop is uniquely different from the others in that the participants will walk different geologic landscapes and see varied soil conditions that are common to that region of the State.  Participants completing this workshop will receive 6 Soil Evaluator Training Credit Hours and 3 Title 5 System Inspector Training Credit Hours.

  3. On the Job Training Workshop (Workshop Number T517-0003): 
    This is a customized homework/lecture/field workshop designed for professionals who are seasoned Soil Evaluators with field experience. At the request of an individual, consulting firm, organization, and/or a unit of government; this real-world workshop will be designed to addresses your site specific concerns. It is important that everyone understand that the instructor is offering his professional interpretation of the Site and the final determination of the Site for suitability for on-site sewage disposal is by the regulatory agency responsible for the town and/or region. Depending on the length of the workshop, participants will receive up to 10 Soil Evaluator Training Credit Hours. When taking two workshops, totaling 10 Training Credit Hours, a person may take a lecture and field workshop or they may take two field workshops in different regions of the state (Reading Different New England Landscape Workshop).

  • Friday, April 28, 2017 Lecture (12:30 to 4:30 pm):
    Review/Update Soil Science and Geology, Southeastern Massachusetts (Wareham/Cape Area).

  • Thursday, June 15, 2017: Lecture (12:30 to 4:30 pm):
    Review/Update Soil Science and Geology, Central Massachusetts (Sturbridge/Spencer Area).

  • Friday, May 5, 2017 (Bad-weather day, May 12)
    Field (9:00 am to 4:00 pm): Reading Different New England Landscapes,
    Cape Cod.

  • Friday, May 19, 2017 (Bad-weather day May 26)
    Field (9:00 am to 4:00 pm): Reading Different New England Landscapes, Rowley/Topsfield Area.

  • Thursday, June 22, 2017 (Bad-weather day, June 29)
    Field (9:00 am to 4:00 pm): Reading Different New England Landscapes, Sturbridge/Spencer Area.

WETLAND WORKSHOPS
  • COMING SOON - Forensic Soil Investigations – Researching, Documenting, and Interpreting Soil Conditions at Altered/Disturbed Wetland Sites. This workshop/course is currently being developed and will be offered soon. More details will be available later.
